Meet Rebecca Messner

Rebecca Messner is a junior at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where she studies Advertising and Marketing Communications with minors in Film & Media Studies and Economics. She is the Director, Executive Producer, and Co-Host of The Blush Podcast—FIT’s student-run fashion and culture podcast.

This semester, Rebecca has interviewed an influential roster of fashion and media figures including Fern Mallis (Creator of NYFW), Versha Sharma (Editor-in-Chief of Teen Vogue), Emil Wilbekin (Journalist & Founder of Native Son), Leah Faye Cooper (Digital Style Director of Vogue.com), Robyn Mowatt (Prev. Senior Fashion Editor of Essence), Julia O’Mara (Founder of Pickle), and more.

Beyond podcasting, Rebecca has produced, assistant directed, and contributed on Off-Broadway’s Little Women, Off-Off-Broadway’s We Do the Same Thing Every Week, and NYU Tisch film and TV projects including RU Zinda, Ti Blan, Input: Offput, Inspiration from the Community, and When We Were One. She also served as Womenswear Chair for Runway27, collaborating with partner brands such as Acne Studios, Glossier, and Retrofête, and has held creative production roles with Melitta Baumeister, Melina Pinedo, and Vitra, where she interned in Product Development & Sustainability and contributed to the 2025 Art Basel collaboration.

Rebecca also works as a Production Assistant and Growth Strategy Intern for the animated TV series Novalord at Strivy, LLC, where she conducts research and supports growth initiatives in collaboration with creative professionals from Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney.

Influenced by her German-Colombian-American background and queer identity, Rebecca focuses on stories that center intersectionality and redefine how culture and identity are portrayed in media.
